Fashion: T.U.K. Shoes

TUK have been terribly helpful and combined two of my loves - horror and shoes! Whilst I'm the first to admit that shoes are not usually very creepy nor horror-related, I think these are absolutely worthy of a mention.

As TUK themselves described these purple and black wonders "Cotton candy colours, cupcakes and skulls, Oh My!" Indeed.

Cute and spooky not your style? Not to worry! There's something for you classic horror lovers too, with TUK's Anti Pop Heels, featuring green stitches, purple lightning bolts and their version of The Bride of Frankenstein:

Art: Mia Mäkilä

Swedish, self-professed 'low-brow horror artist', Mia Mäkilä, uses a variety of techniques, styles and mediums to create her strangely wonderful art. Whilst some of her work does seem to draw heavily from Hieronymous Bosch, Mäkilä also has a distinctively dark and sometimes comical style of her own as well.

Creepy, bizarre and unnerving. What more could you ask for!

Living Dead Dolls - some people love them, some people hate them. Personally, I love them, and Series 20 are just as horrifically adorable as their predecessors, and Day of the Dead themed too.

Today, I have a confession to make... not everything I like is horrific and spooky. Shocking, I know, but even I can't resist the lure of fluffy kittens and men without split personalities or chainsaw hands sometimes...maybe...

Anyway, confessions over with, on with the entry! Speaking of confessions - or rather priests - today's post is about OOMPH! - a band from Germany that has absolutely nothing to do with horror and are not even that creepy. They do however, have some rather good, tongue in cheek horror-themed videos. 'Brennende Liebe' is inspired by 'The Bride of Frankenstein', whilst 'Sex hat keine Macht' takes from 'The Exorcist', head rotating and all. You might not like their music, but you can always hit the mute button :P

Movies: Manhater

"A vulnerable woman, years of cheating boyfriends and finally an abusive husband--a perfect setup for revenge. But what if you're too beaten down to take things into your own hands? What if you just want out, just want it all to stop, just want them all to go away...and then what if it happens?"

Directed by Anthony Doublin and written and produced by Philip R. Calderone of Canyon Falls Productions, independant movie, 'Manhater' takes the traditional downtrodden woman revenge story and gives it an unusual twist, with the introduction of Enyo, a character brought into the plot through the use of a witch's potion.

Although there are similarities between 'Manhater' and the soon to be released 'Jennifer's Body', the storyline of 'Manhater' appeals more to me, if only because it's not set in a high school, as so many modern horror movies are. It also deals with more adult themes, such as domestic violence, which makes it more interesting to me than watching a possessed cheerleader killing boys (although, that is somewhat amusing XD).

Movies: Zombieland

Well, after a little break from updating (okay, so it was only just over a week, but still!), I'm back, with something for all the zombie fans out there. I am of course talking about the upcoming comedy horror 'Zombieland'.

"In the horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss -- but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying' bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies."

'Zombieland' may be ridiculous at times, but it's still gory, the plot seems interesting and  zombie movies are always a little amusing anyway (though I love them haha). There's no reason why horror shouldn't be fun too and I for one will be going to see it in November. If you happen to live in the US, it's being released a month earlier, on October 2nd.
