Movies: CRAWL BITCH CRAWL

Written and directed by Oklahoma Ward the independent horror film, CRAWL BITCH CRAWL, is set for release sometime this year. The plot takes place in a world in which the human population has been decimated by a virus, which causes women to become infertile and unable to bare children. An elite security team have been assigned to protect the last fertile woman in the world - known as "The Package" - and in order to complete their mission they must escort her through a claustrophobic system of tunnels.

If that weren't already enough to deal with, they end up being chased by a terrifying creature, through two thousand feet of the fourteen inch wide tunnel.

Movies: "Saint"

Hello there little monsters!
First of all, our apologies for being absent all this time!
As you've noticed we've been extra busy and couldn't update HSL but we're back on track and with tons of cool stuff to share with you all our spooky loves!

And since Christmas is right around the corner, I'm gonna recommend you something Christmassy, but, of course, filled with horror!
The movie's called "Saint", and there you can see a not-so-saint St Nicholas spreading death instead of presents.
Interested? then check this little summary + trailer. And enjoy! Spooky Christmas for you all my lovely monsters!

"An original and delightfully gruesome slasher film, SAINT re-imagines jolly old Saint Nick as a murderous bishop fulfilling a grisly prophecy under the December full moon. Packed with creative yuletide horror, SAINT is a fun chiller that follows local teen Frank (Weeber) as he sets out on a bloody, high-energy battle to save Amsterdam from the wrathful "Sinterklaas" and his minions."

Movies: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (2011)

The eerie remake of the 1973 television movie 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' is set to be released on August 26th 2011. The plot centres around Sally Hirst's (Bailee Madison) terrifying experience with creatures that stalk her after she moves into a new house with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes).

The film is co-produced & co-written by Guillermo del Toro and directed by comic book artist / creator of the short film 'Latchkey's Lament', Troy Nixey and, whilst Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce being the adult leads does put me off somewhat, perhaps Nixey can bring out the best in them. The trailers (the one posted below for example) do seem promising,  but I have to admit that a large proportion of my faith in this movie comes from del Toro's involvement in it.

Games: New Left 4 Dead Missions and Comic!

The game Left for Dead has been around for a while, and has been a firm favourite of mine, as it involves three things that always seem to equal fun: Chainsaws. Zombies. Blood. The stylings of this game helps to set a fun b-movie atmosphere as you team up with 3 other players against an unending horde of zombies!

In this photo "The Sacrifice" appears to be a zombie!!! (of course)

"Welcome to the first chapter in our four-part Left 4 Dead comic, the Sacrifice! Find out what happens after the military rescued Francis, Louis, Zoey, and Bill at the end of the original Left 4 Dead in four weekly installments, each a whopping 40-plus pages of story and art. Then, download the new DLC “The Sacrifice”, where we put the story’s conclusion into your hands."
For those who don't know it (you would have to have been hiding in your zompocalypse fallout shelter not to) there is a new mission pack coming on the 5th October, well in time for halloween. But first there has been a online comic book released to help set the mood!

More details about this and "the Sacrifice" campaign after the jump!

Movies: Zombieland

Well, after a little break from updating (okay, so it was only just over a week, but still!), I'm back, with something for all the zombie fans out there. I am of course talking about the upcoming comedy horror 'Zombieland'.

"In the horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss -- but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee is an AK-toting, zombie-slaying' bad ass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies."

'Zombieland' may be ridiculous at times, but it's still gory, the plot seems interesting and  zombie movies are always a little amusing anyway (though I love them haha). There's no reason why horror shouldn't be fun too and I for one will be going to see it in November. If you happen to live in the US, it's being released a month earlier, on October 2nd.

Movies: The Wolfman

Today, ladies and gentlemen, I am a very happy horror-addict; for one of my favourite classic horrors, 'The Wolfman' (originally starring Lon Chaney Jr.), has been remade! And not only that, it's been remade by Universal!

"Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father, Talbot sets out to find his brother... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe, tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline has come to investigate."

Now, I know there has been a flurry of remakes of old classics in recent years, and a large proportion of them are...substandard...to say the least, but from the trailers, this one looks like it might actually be really good. Not only because of the special effects make-up talents of six-time Oscar-winning make-up artist Rick Baker, but for the plot and the cast, which includes the acting talents of Benicio del Toro (Lawrence Talbot/The Wolfman), Anthony Hopkins (Sir John Talbot), Emily Blunt (Gwen Conliffe) and Hugo Weaving (Detective Aberline).

The movie will hit screens on February 12th 2010. To find out more, visit the official movie site below:

And if you can't wait until February, you can always visit Universal Studios, Orlando to get a taste of the movie as part of their Halloween Horror Nights events, which also features the movies 'Saw' and 'Child's Play', running from September 25th - October 31st 2009.

Oh if only the UK weren't so far away from there! T.T

Movies: Trick R Treat

After much anticipation, 'Trick R Treat' is finally being released on October 6th 2009! It was originally due to come out last year, but one of the 'Saw' movies (I forget which...they all merge into one after a while) clashed with that, so of course 'Trick R Treat' was pushed back a year. But but with 'Saw VI' not being released until the end of October,we can all see 'Trick R Treat' and complain about it soon. Hurray!

But, remember boys and girls, obey the rules of Halloween...OR ELSE!
