Animation: Bloodfeathers

Bloodfeathers is a a creepy claymation short animated by Vanessa Soberanis with sound design by Ryan Edberg. The story centres around a robot who "longs for the impossible", which ultimately causes it to descend into disturbing fits of rage and, ultimately, self-destructive madness.

The animation style and character designs are weird and gorgeous, and the subtle but unsettling soundtrack / voice acting fits it perfectly. The film is only around eight and half minutes long, so obviously there isn't a huge amount of character development, but there is more than enough content and the ending provides a satisfying - and somewhat inevitable - conclusion. If you enjoy animated work by The Quay Brothers, Jan Svankmajer, or the stop-motion music videos of the band Tool, you'll probably enjoy Bloodfeathers too.

Art, Jewellery & Fashion: Haus of Bizarre

Le Petit Corbeau by Haus of Bizarre
"The Haus Of Bizarre was started by two siamese souls conjoined by the heart but torn apart by their limbs for conducting experimental surgery on countless patients that were committed to the Haus.
Bizarre rumors have been heard of the two still roaming the Haus conducting their experiments on whatever poor treacherous souls that maybe unlucky enough to have entered the Haus Of Bizarre"
Niqo
Nivec

That is the wonderfully horrific premise of the dark, horror art, jewelry and clothing shop, Haus of Bizarre, taken from their website (which is in itself an aesthetic and aural delight). The Haus creates everything from horror-inspired t-shirts, to macabre fine art prints, to decadent gothic jewellery, and everything in between.

Blood Feast T-Shirt by Haus of Bizarre
Although the most horrific thing about many makers of clothing, jewellery and art in a similar vein is the exorbitant cost of their items, Haus of Bizarre manage to pair devilishly unique oddities with extremely fair prices. For example, a t-shirt costs approximately £10.50 whilst a gorgeous coffin necklace is only around £9.00. They sell items through their Etsy store and the HoB site webstore and, even if you don't have any spare coinage at the moment, it's still worth taking a look, as their creations are really strangely beautiful.

Toys & Art: Abomination Nursery Pinhead Doll

Pinhead 14" Custom Doll
Abomination Nursery currently have a few new dolls on display on their website, including this rather wonderful custom of Pinhead from 'Hellraiser'. The doll is 14" tall, made of vinyl and features real metal pins in the head. The outfit, too, is custom-made.

Pinhead Close-up
I don't know about you, but I think he looks way more sinister in doll form! To see more shots of this doll, or view the rest of the pieces from Abomination Nursery, check their Official Website.

Art: Ugly Art by Ugly Shyla

Hailing from Southern Louisiana, Ugly Shyla is a surrealist fine art doll maker, whose beautifully dark creations have built up quite a fanbase during her career. Her work has been featured in publications such as Bizarre and SPIN and also used as props in the book 'Dream' by photographer John Santerineross.

Each doll is hand-crafted, meaning that they are all one-of-a-kind and the quality is of a high standard. However, whilst they are dolls, due to the macabre themes and delicateness of each piece, they are not toys nor are they suitable for children, but are ideal for doll collectors and art lovers alike.

In addition to creative and unusual dolls, Ugly Shyla also makes unique jewelry, clothing and art, which are equally as intricate and interesting.

As if all that wasn't more than enough to keep her occupied, she is also an alternative model, and has done shoots with photographers such as Steve Diet Goedde, John Santerineross and Lithium Picnic.
